3 Podcasts I’m Listening to Right Now

listening to a podcast

What are you listening to? No really, Trap music during a workout? Gospel on the way to church? Or maybe you’re listening to Travis Scott as you make something to eat before you get back into bed and attend Bedside Baptist. The last scenario may or may not be… how I spend most of my Sunday mornings. Since I’ve outed myself, shout out to Alfred Street Baptist Church for horizontal praise and worship straight from my comfy bed.listening to a podcast listening to a podcast

Listen, music always provides a good vibe whether you’re on a long commute to work or on a Saturday morning when you’re cleaning the house. Within the last few years, I’ve been listening to more and more podcasts during times when I listen to music.

My former professor, who is old enough to be my grandfather introduced me to Podcasts. So, naturally, I dismissed them as something I’d relate to. But one day I had a copious amount of laundry to do, (as I always do) and I decided to give it a try. You can only sleep next to clean clothes for so long before you realize they don’t hug back.

Listening to a podcast makes chores go by so fast. In fact, when I finished putting up my clothes and restored order to my bed, I began finding other chores around the house to do so I could continue listening.

I love podcasts, they make me feel nostalgic and I love a well put together story! If I’m being a total sap I’ll just go ahead and say *whispers* I love when my person reads to me. It feels so intimate to me.

Here’s a glimpse of 3 I’m loving right now. I’ll share more soon, but here’s a few to get you started.

If you’re looking for

A breakdown of a real-life convicted alleged murder

Listen to

Undisclosed

It’ll suck you in

If you’re curious about the process of prosecution, enjoy Law & Order or enthralled by First 48. Undisclosed investigates wrongful convictions and breaks down the information to uncover the truth in hopes of getting an appeal. The first season focuses on Adnan Syed, a high schooler convicted in 2000 for allegedly killing his ex-girlfriend, Hae Min Lee. This is the first podcast to really get the whole country chiming in on whether Syed is innocent and deserves to have his case retried. Despite my lack of qualifications, I really felt my analytical skills were on par! I really loved how you could tweet the podcasters and ask them questions and read everyone else’s thoughts.

If you’re looking for

Comedic pop culture commentary

Listen to

The Read

Because

On the strength of Crissle’s laugh ALONE you should listen to this podcast! Crissle and Kidfury provide a hilarious and honest commentary on pop culture and current affairs. They’re like the cousins you can’t wait to meet up with at a family reunion because they’d be a joy to be around. If you want a glimpse into their personalities you should totally follow Crissle and Kidfury on twitter.

If you’re a

Creative

Listen to

The Accidental Creative

It’ll change

Your creative process so you can produce your best work. Best summed up, “… [The Accidental Creative] shares how to build practical, everyday practices that help you stay prolific, brilliant and healthy in life and work.” It’s so easy to get bogged down in a routine that we only start looking at how to improve our craft when we’re burned out. The tips and the insights from the people he interviews are useful and an easy way to improve your creativity.

These are SOME of my weekly staples. Podcasts really are a game changer. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve learned something, implemented something or my mood just felt better after listening to a podcast! The other great thing is sharing stuff that you learn with loved ones, co-workers or the guy you’re in an Uber pool with. Any time you listen to music is an opportunity to listen to a podcast. If you haven’t tried it before, why not try listening to one as part of trying something new for the fall. Each season is a new beginning and a new opportunity to create healthy habits.

So what are you listening to? What genres are you into?

Best,
