8 benefits of sweet almond oil for your skin

According to East Atlanta Santa, also known as, Gucci Mane, the current month is Novemburr. This is an accurate reflection of the weather here in the Dirty South. The proof is in the winter jackets everyone is wearing, the flood of festive Starbucks cups all over Instagram and most importantly, ashy skin.

Ahhhh yes… grab a cup of earl grey tea. Sit. Let’s talk about how ashiness needs to end.

I’m not going to lie, my skin type is considered normal to dry and this Fall~ish winter weather has my skin feeling drier than usual. I don’t like how I feel when I’m not sufficiently moisturized.

Going into the world fully clothed and ashy is the equivalent of my sock shrinking in the sunken place that is my black leather Cole Haan boot, and no one knows I’m silently suffering.

I’m pretty sure you know someone out there who uses one of these products still, Johnson’s Baby products, Vaseline or Dove. It’s the stuff we’ve grown up with and I get it, “if it’s not broke don’t fix it.”

Look, I’m an ex Nivea for dry skin addict! Whenever my mom comes and visits she always asks what I want her to bring. My needs are simple. Nivea and Nike socks; weird, yes, but my needs are my needs and not up for judgment. Nivea has always worked for me but I got up to a point where I decided I needed to figure out what would be a healthier option for me. After that whole Nivea commercial debacle, I thought it would be a good time to share healthier options for your skin, starting with sweet almond oil.

If you’re not using anything on your skin, hopefully, you’ll consider not contributing to the ashy population.

I truly love this stuff and let me tell you how soft my skin is. Somewhere in this world, there is a baby that is envious of my soft skin. I kid you not!

It’s also glowy and more importantly, it’s healthy. Using sweet almond oil and upping my water intake has been beneficial for my skin. If you want, you can also add a few drops of your lavender, eucalyptus or whatever essential oil you’re vibing with at the moment.

Here are some other reasons why I think you should check out sweet almond oil.

8 Benefits of Sweet Almond Oil

  1. Moisturizes dry and flaky skin.
  2. Makeup remover.
  3. Can reduce wrinkles and fine lines.
  4. Helps soothe Booga Wolf feet. Lol! I couldn’t help myself, lol. Use this to give your person, or yourself,  a foot massage.
  5. Can delay signs of aging.
  6. Anti-inflammatory.
  7. Can promote eyelash growth (I’m going to try this and castor oil because I touch my eyes too much to have extensions!).
  8. Helps with dark circles.

Here’s a free tip. Come hither… *whispers unnecessarily* if you’re trying to see what other oils would be good for your skin, go to Pinterest and use it as a search engine. No really, I typed in “oils for dry skin” and that’s how I discovered sweet almond oil. I did a bit of research on it and decided I liked it better than coconut oil.

I don’t care which side of the melanin spectrum you’re on, you’re skin deserves to be healthy and moisturized. I should not be able to use my index finger to write my name on you. You can easily buy almond oil at the grocery store or this lil’ mom and pop store called Amazon.

If you can get the same or better results with something natural, why not go for it? Remember, what you put on your skin, you absorb.

So, what’s your skin type and what do you currently use?
